May be considered invasive. Readily reseeds if not deadheaded.

Prefers rich, cool soil to germinate. Sweet violet will require a cold stratification if sowed indoors. Will tolerate alkaline soil.
To collect seeds, bag the flower on the plant as the seeds will self-scatter when mature.
